There are currently thirty skills in Legends of Celestia, although it is entirely possible that more will be released in the future.  Skills are used by players in a variety of different ways.  Each time a skill is used, that skill gains experience and progresses further in level, reaching a maximum of Level: 99 for free-to-play and Level: 100 for pay-to-play.  As a skill increases in level, more ways of gaining experience in that skill, as well as a greater variety of things to do with that skill, become available to the player.  In addition, each skill has a special "perk" that can be unlocked every ten levels, starting at Level: 10 and ending at Level: 100.  However, only pay-to-play can unlock the Level: 100 perk, as free-to-play cannot reach that required level. The quests to unlock this perk become available once the player reaches the level in question.

Ten skills are available to both free-to-play and pay-to-play, while twenty skills are only available for pay-to-play.  Out of those twenty skills that are only available for pay-to-play, ten of them must be unlocked through various quests before they can be used.  If a player that is pay-to-play returns to free-to-play, any pay-to-play skills that have been increased do not lose any experience or levels, but cannot be used unless the player returns to pay-to-play.

Before a skill can start to gain experience, the player must meet with and learn about the skill from the skill's Master.  Each skill has a single Master who can generally be located nearly the organization that governs the skill.

Skills are divided into four different categories.  Skills are that marked with (m) are pay-to-play skills while skills that are marked with (u) must be unlocked before they can be used.
